Making your own bath bombs

A bath bomb is a concentrated form of bath bubbles composed of special salts, oils, fragrances and colours. A bath bombs are often cast in round ball form as a structure immersed in water. A bath bomb also provides a pleasant fragrance. Bath bombs have become a hugely popular self-care product. It can turn a dull bath into a luxurious experience.

Ingredient of DIY bath bombs

Here is a list of ingredients used to make DIY bath bombs at home:

  • 100g baking soda.
  • 50g citric acid.
  • 25g corn flour.
  • 25g Epsom salt (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of oil – such as sunflower, coconut or olive oil.
  • ¼ teaspoon of essential oil, such as orange, lavender or chamomile.
  • a few drops of liquid dye or mica.
  • orange peel, lavender or rose petals, for decorating (optional)
  • ½ tablespoon Polysorbate 80 – this ensures that the dye does not stick to the bath

Bath bombs recipe

  • In a bowl, mix your dry bath bombs ingredients (epsom salts, baking soda, cornmeal and citric acid).
  • In a bowl, combine the carrier oil, essential oil or perfume, polysorbate 80 (optional).
  • Pour the oil into your dry bath salts mixture and combine well.
  • After mixing oil, bath salts will become slightly moist. And let the mixture dry for 10 minutes.
  • To colour your bath salts, add a drop of colouring liquid and mix well. The dye may fizz, so mix it quickly. Always add just 1-2 drops and check whether the colour is right or not. Add more drops if needed to get the desired result.
  • Pour the bath salts into the mould to get the desired shape of bath bombs.

  • Take a bath bombs and dissolve it in a bath full of water. It will smooth your skin, relieve stress and calm your nerves. It will also help you sleep better.

Tips for storing bath bombs

Always store a bath bombs in an airtight container to prevent moisture from getting into them. Moisture from the air can cause the salt to fizz or clump.
