This beard oil is made with castor oil, which has quite a thick consistency. Be careful about using too much, as it can cause your beard to become too greasy. However, this beard oil is a great choice if you want a product to stimulate hair growth. Castor is known to boost circulation in your skin, while rosemary helps prevent beard dandruff and shedding.
Ingredients
- 4 drops castor oil
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
- 30 ml coconut oil
- 30 ml sweet almond oil
Steps to Making Beard Oil
- Begin by sterilizing your bottles. You can do this by boiling your bottles in a pot of water – make sure you start boiling when the bottles are already in the water to prevent cracking.
- In a mixing bowl, start by combining a drop of essential oil with your chosen carrier oil. Keep adding carrier oils and essential oils until you have a nice consistency.
- You may need to microwave your mixture to help loosen up your carrier oil. If you are looking for a beard oil that has the consistency more like a cream, I recommend adding beeswax or shea butter – both of these will give your oil a nice, creamy consistency and make it easier to apply (more like a salve).
- Once you have an oil that is the texture and scent you prefer, you can go ahead and use it. I don’t recommend certain mixing quantities because it is truly a matter of preference -and will also depend on the needs of your specific beard type.
- Go ahead and use! Depending on how much mixture you end up with, you can store it in a cool, dark location for several months. You may have to microwave it between uses.
