Then remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then add distilled water, a preservative and your pine needle essential oil, along with any other desired oils. Whisk the mixture until it thickens and store in an airtight, sterilized container, preferably in the refrigerator.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ingredienten\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oil phase:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bc cup (50 ml) of carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond, jojoba or argan oil)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup (50 ml) beeswax beads or emulsifying wax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Optional:<\/em> 2 tablespoons shea butter or cocoa butter for extra creaminess<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Water phase:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bd cup (125 ml) distilled water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling phase:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>10-20 drops of spruce needles essential oil  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Optional:<\/em> vitamin E oil for preservation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Optional:<\/em> broad-spectrum preservative, especially if you don&#8217;t use vitamin E and for longer shelf life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supplies:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Au bain-marie (or a heatproof bowl over a pan of water)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whisk or hand blender<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sterilized, airtight container for storage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-instructies\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Melt the oils:<\/strong> Put the carrier oil, beeswax and any optional butters in a double boiler. Gently heat until everything is completely melted. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hot water:<\/strong> While the oils are melting, gently heat the distilled water in a separate container. There is no need to boil it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Combine the phases:<\/strong> Remove the oil mixture from the heat. Slowly pour the hot water into the melted oils while continuing to whisk. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cool and thicken:<\/strong> Use a whisk or hand blender to blend the lotion as it cools. At first, the lotion will be thin, but as it cools, it will thicken. Keep mixing until you reach a thick, lotion-like consistency.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add essential oils:<\/strong> Once the mixture has cooled to below, whisk in pine needle essential oil and any other additives such as vitamin E oil or a preservative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Storage:<\/strong> Pour the finished lotion into a sterilized, airtight container.
