You can use them to create intricate patterns, write messages, or simply add color to your candles.

Working with candle wax pens

Wax crayons in various colors

Candles

Clean, dry cloth

Step 1: Choose your wax pens

Choose a few wax crayons in different colors that you want to use for your design. Wax crayons come in a variety of shades, so you can create beautiful and eye-catching combinations.

Step 2: Prepare your candles

Start with clean, dry candles. Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the surface, as this can interfere with the wax pen’s adhesion. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the candles and make sure they are ready for decoration.

Step 3: Test the wax pens

Before applying the wax pens directly to the candles, it’s a good idea to test them on a small area or a separate piece of paper. This will help you get used to how the pen flows and ensure that you’re satisfied with the colors and their intensity.

Step 4: Start decorating

Now comes the fun part—decorating your candles! Use the candle wax pens to draw directly on the candle’s surface. You can create patterns, write messages, or make intricate designs. Experiment with different colors, layers, and blending to achieve the effect you want. Let your imagination run wild!

Step 5: Fixing errors

If you make a mistake or aren’t happy with a certain part, don’t worry! Wax pens are forgiving. You can simply scrape off the unwanted wax with a fingernail or a small, blunt tool. If necessary, use a cloth to clean the area before applying a new design.

Step 6: Let the design harden

Once you’re satisfied with the candle design, let it cure. Drying time may vary depending on the brand of wax pen you’re using, so be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It’s essential to let the wax design dry and cure completely before touching the candles.

Creamy, shape-retaining wax for decorating and labeling candles.
