What is syndet soap?

Syndet is a contraction of the words “synthetic detergent” – or synthetic cleaning agent. Unlike traditional soaps, which are made via saponification of fats and oils with lye (sodium hydroxide), syndets consist of mild, surfactants (surfactants) typically manufactured via chemical processing of natural or synthetic raw materials.
