Copaíba is an oil derived from the resin of the copaifera reticulata tree that grows in Brazil and other South American countries. Copaíba oil does not come from a seed or nut, but from the sap of a tree. It has wonderful anti-inflammatory and acne-fighting properties, making it an especially beneficial addition to your skincare routine.

Copaíba oil is of great importance to the Amazon region because it accounts for about 95% of Brazil’s oil-resin production. Annual production is estimated at about 500 tons. The oil is produced by distilling the gum resin of the Copaifera reticulata tree into steam, which precipitates into this luxurious oil. A single copaifera reticulata tree can grow up to 30 meters tall and produce up to 45 liters of copaíba oil each season.

Copaiba balsam oil can be added to massage blends or other skin products – such as lotions, moisturizers and ointments – to benefit from its scar healing, antibacterial, astringent and soothing (moisturizing) properties.
