Origin: South Africa
Description: Pompelmoes, known in the Netherlands under the English name Grapefruit, is an evergreen tree up to 10 meters high with shiny leaves and large yellow or pink fruits. Grapefruit was probably first cultivated in the Caribbean. Many grapefruit plantations can now be found in California, Florida, Brazil and Israel.
Extraction: Grapefruit oil is obtained through cold pressing of the peel of this citrus fruit.
Applications: Aromatherapy applications and perfume industry.
Properties: Antiseptic, antitoxic, astringent, bactericidal and lymphatic stimulant.
Operation / helps with: Headache, jet lag, fatigue, lethargy, hair growth promoting, cellulite, swimmers’ eczema, stiff muscles, edema, flu and can be used during detox treatments.
Attention: Grapefruit oil is a phototoxic oil, which means that grapefruit on the skin can cause brown skin discolorations under the influence of sunlight (UV radiation).
