Nice to know: Hamamelis species have long had medical significance. As early as 1870, the American T. Pond established that the Indians treated burns, abscesses, haemorids and all kinds of wounds with an infusion of hamamelis branches. Witch hazel is rich in tannins, flavonoids and essential oils.
Medicines based on hamamelis leaves are prescribed for acute diarrhea, minor skin injuries, eczema, varicose vein complaints and sensitive skin.
Hamamelis is the magic plant of the North American Indians. Plant parts that were thrown into a bowl provided advice for businesses and decisions to be taken. Fork-shaped branches were used as divine rage to detect water.
