PCN Update – Updating the Poison Center Notification

Has anything changed regarding a product for which a Poison Center Notification (PCN) has already been submitted? If so, it may be necessary to update the existing PCN.

With our PCN Update Service, we ensure that the existing notification is updated based on the latest product information and resubmitted correctly to the relevant Poison Centers via the ECHA portal.

When is a PCN update needed?

For example, an existing PCN notification may need to be updated if there are changes to:

• the composition or concentrations of the mixture;
• raw materials or supplier information;
• the product name or trade name;
• the UFI or relevant product identifier;
• the classification and labeling of the mixture;
• toxicological information;
• packaging information;
• product category or use;
• contact or company information;
• the countries in which the product is marketed.

An update may also be necessary if new information becomes available that is relevant to the existing report.

What do we need?

To perform the update, please provide us with the existing PCN documentation and a clear description of what has changed since the last notification.

Depending on the change, additional documents may be required, such as a new SDS, revised composition, product data, classification data, or information about new trade names and countries of sale.

Important considerations regarding changes in composition

Not every change can be automatically processed under the same existing PCN and UFI.

Under certain circumstances, changes to the composition may require a new UFI and/or a new PCN notification in accordance with applicable regulations. We therefore first assess whether the desired change can be processed as an update.

If a new report is necessary, we will notify you before it is submitted.
