WW 16 is an optical whitening additive for candle waxes. It neutralizes yellowish discoloration and gives kerosene, stearin and vegetable (fatty acid) waxes a visibly whiter appearance. Compatible with UV absorbers and antioxidants.

How does WW 16 work?

Optical brighteners work on the basis of color physics. WW 16 changes the reflection spectrum of the wax, absorbing yellowish light and shifting the perceived hue toward the blue region. The human eye experiences this as white. So it is an optical effect, not a chemical bleaching reaction.

Application & dosage

• Purpose: To lighten/refresh yellowish waxes or batches with color cast.
• Add: In fully melted wax, mix in evenly until fully dispersed.
• Dosage: Depending on wax and color intensity; start with the lowest effective dosage and increase incrementally. The recommended dosage is between 0.05 g and 3 g per 1000 g (0.05% to 0.3%) of candle wax.
• Combinations: May be used in conjunction with UV absorbers and antioxidants.
