Cold Process Ice Crystals Soap Recipe

A fresh winter soap with shimmering “ice crystal” embeds, a bright ice blue pendant swirl and a soft snow scent. Ideal for winter collections and luxury gifts.

Ingredients

Embeds (Melt & Pour)

• 150 g soap base
• Ice blue mica
• Gold iridescent mica
• Small flat mold

Cold Process Basis

• Wooden mold
• Pendant Swirl Tool

Oils (total ± 1 kg of soap)

• 450 g olive oil
• 300 g coconut oil
• 150 g shea butter
• 100 g sweet almond oil

Lye & fluids

• 138 g sodium hydroxide
• 330 g distilled water
• 2.5 tsp. sodium lactate (optional)

Dyes

• Titanium dioxide
• Ice blue mica
• Silver white mica

Fragrance

• 25-30 g Winter Wonderland fragrance oil

Instructions

Embeds

• Melt 150 g melt & pour in 10-second intervals.
• Mix in ice blue mica and glitter.
• Pour into a flat mold and allow to harden.
• Cut into small “ice cubes” and set aside.

Safety

• Wear gloves, goggles and work ventilated.

Lye solution

• Slowly add the lye to the water and stir until clear.
• Allow to cool to 45-50°C.
• Add sodium lactate if desired.

Oils

• Melt the hard oils and add the liquid ones.
• Let this too cool to 45-50°C.
• Ensure that oil and lye differ by no more than 10°C.

Mix

• Add lye to the oils and stick blend to light trace.

Colors

• Separate 400 ml of batter and mix with titanium dioxide.
• Color the rest with ice blue mica.

Fragrance

• Divide the Winter Breeze fragrance oil between both bowls and mix by hand.

Casting and swirl

• Pour the blue soap into the mold.
• Tap to remove air bubbles.
• Pour the white soap in thin jets from 15-20 cm high for a drop swirl.
• Perform a pendant swirl with 4-6 loops at different heights.

Top and embeds

• Allow the soap to firm up for a few minutes.
• Create a light top texture with a spoon.
• Sprinkle with silver mica.
• Place the ice crystal embeds and press gently.

Finish

• Spray with 99% alcohol against soda ash.
• Do not isolate.
• Leave in the mold for 48-72 hours.
• Cut and let harden for 4-6 weeks.
