Homemade grapefruit soap
Difficulty: Easy | Time: 30 minutes | Yield: About 3-4 pieces of soap (depending on the size of the mold)
Shape dimensions: Width: 18.3 cm × Length: 11.3 cm × Height: 2.7 cm
You need
- 300 g Melt and pour soap Sweat Arm Transparent SLS free
- Zenicolour 5 – Dye.
- 12 g Fragrance oils – Sweet Rose (4% of 300 g)
- Natural cotton rope or cord (pre-cut into 15-20 cm pieces)
- Spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol (99%)
- Silicone grape ball mold – 25 cavities
- Microwave-safe jug or au bain-marie
- Stirring stick or spoon
Methodology
1. Prepare the string
Cut your string or cord into equal pieces (about 15-20 cm).
Thread each piece of string through the hole in your mold so that the ends hang outside the soap cavity. If necessary, use a small piece of tape to hold the rope in place on the outside of the mold.
2. Cut and melt the soap base
Cut the Melt and pour soap sweat arm transparent SLS free into small cubes and melt it.
3. Add color
Add a few drops of soap dye until the desired grape color is achieved. Stir well to ensure that the color is evenly distributed.
4. Add scent
Let the soap base cool slightly (to about 55-60 °C) and then stir in the sweet rose fragrance oil. Mix gently but thoroughly.
5. Pour into the mold
Carefully pour the soap into each cavity of the mold while the strings are still in place. Make sure the string stays in the center and does not sink. Spray the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove air bubbles.
6. Allow to cool and harden
Let the soaps cure completely for 1-2 hours at room temperature.
7. Remove from mold
Carefully remove the soaps from the mold. The string is now incorporated into each soap, giving you a cute “soap on a string.”
Result
Beautiful, translucent soaps inspired by grapes, with a glossy finish.
