How do you use phenoxyethanol?

Using phenoxyethanol is very simple: mix with the rest of the formula’s ingredients and done; no heating is necessary.

Use about 0.8-1% in the final product. In professional cosmetics, the maximum dosage is 1%, we recommend not exceeding this. Some surfactants, for example Detergent (SLES), require the maximum er soluble amount for sufficient action.

The SCCS, an EU scientific committee concluded in 2016 that phenoxyethanol can be safely used as a preservative in cosmetics, provided no more than 1% is used.
