Cucumber Hydrosol Water

Hydrosols, also called Hydrolates, are extracts obtained by water and steam distillation from fresh leaves, fruits, flowers, and other plant material. They are produced by the same process as essential oils and are actually the separation water after the distillation process.

Hydrosols consist mainly of hydrophilic (water-loving) compounds of the plant, but they still contain a small number of essential oil compounds (between 0.02 -0.05% of the hydrophilic parts of an essential oil).

With similar properties to essential oils, these Hydrosols or aromatic waters are much less concentrated. Their aromas are often soft and subtle compared to their essential oil counterparts; they do not always have the same aroma as the essential oils themselves.

Hydrosols are a great gentle alternative to essential oils.

Cucumber Hydrosol is a product of the steam distillation of cucumber fruits. Because the cucumber fruit is mostly water, the cucumber hydrosol has a very similar clear, fresh, crisp scent to its fruity counterpart. With a refreshing cucumber hydrosol you can make body splashes and toners, or you can add it to lotions and natural room fresheners. Cucumber is known to be a great skin conditioner, so it makes a lovely refreshing facial spray, and a soothing and cooling spray as an aftersun.

Cucumber hydrosol can be used in soothing and cooling skin care applications. You can use Cucumber Hydrosol as a refreshing, yet calming facial mist. Cucumber Hydrosol can be combined with other hydrosols or used alone. It can also be used as the water replacement in skin and hair care formulas.

Benefits of Cucumber Hydrosol

Hydrosols, also known as floral waters, hydroflorates, floral waters, essential waters, herbal waters, or distillates, have many uses for beauty, home, and more! Our organic hydrosols are produced by steam distilling botanical material. They have similar properties to their essential oil counterparts, but are much less concentrated. Cucumber hydrosol has a fresh, refreshing scent and is a great natural alternative to traditional toners. It has a much lighter aroma than synthetic cucumber scents. Great to use on a hot summer day!

There are many benefits of cucumber hydrosol. The first and most important is that its cooling and refreshing effect on the skin can help with redness and inflammation of the skin. Keep your cucumber hydrosol in the fridge and use it to refresh your skin. Another benefit is that cucumber hydrosol is also moisturizing for the skin, allowing your skin to absorb more moisture and stay feeling plumper and more resilient! You can even add it to your bath water for softer, renewed skin. Mix it with other aromatic hydrosols for a relaxing aromatherapy session. With its natural cucumber aroma, the benefits of cucumber hydrosol show that it really is a spa experience in a bottle!

Hydrosols are usually distilled once a year with the fresh harvest time. We try to purchase enough material for between distillations, but you may run out of your favorite hydrosol before the next distillation season begins. Hydrosols should be stored in a cool, dark place. If you are not going to use your hydrosol soon, refrigeration is recommended.
