Nature Wax 660-55M is a Rapeseed Coconut Wax and does not contain any additives. This newly developed wax is supplied in solid block form and is packaged from the manufacturer in 10 kg slabs.

Originally developed for high (natural) fragrance levels in candles, where the fragrance helps to plasticize the wax and reduce the tendency to crack.

This wax works very well for wax melts and container candles and performs best with high fragrance levels of around 12%.

The maximum odour load of this wash is about 15%.

This wax was chosen by a leading perfume house in France, where it was the only one with the desired scent and stability.

On its own and without fragrance, it is quite hard and brittle, so for unscented or lightly scented candles, we recommend mixing it with a softer base wax.

It has also been tested in molded tea lights and melts, where its bright white color and smooth crystallization are appreciated.

Composition

Based on rapeseed and coconut vegetable oils. 100% vegetable, no additives.

Use candle wax for tea lights

Originally developed for a project to make 100% vegetable tea lights (it has a very light/white color), with the added restriction of palm free and no soy/GM. Has very low odor/color and excellent stability, so is ideal for unscented tea lights.

Use candle wax for container candles

We recommend using this wax only for small container candles (6 cm diameter) due to its high melting point and the small melting pool it creates; for larger containers, it is recommended to test thoroughly and use more than one wick.

This wax works well with high fragrance levels (8% or higher), as the fragrance oils soften the wax and hold it well.

Experience shows that not every scent works, especially benzyl benzoate as a carrier is tricky, so it is recommended to test what works best.

Testing revealed that the wax has a high melting point (50 degrees Celsius), which can be considered high for large single-wick containers.

However, this wax also works well for smaller candles or candles with multiple wicks. Again, it’s advisable to test small batches first before going larger scale.

We are also seeing good results with combinations of this wax and a softer sunflower or rapeseed wax (Starting point 60% rapeseed/sunflower : 40% 660-55M), so this could be an option for larger single kernel holders.

Candle wax casting

In general, lower casting temperatures seem to be better; 55-60C is recommended for this wax – in containers at or slightly above room temperature.

We understand that sometimes it is necessary to heat the wax to higher temperatures first in order to incorporate colours, fragrances or other waxes.

It is best not to pour in the wax immediately but to allow it to cool slightly (stirring gently if necessary), as this gives the best results with less chance of foaming and surface defects.
