Sodium Bicarbonate or Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) is not only the main ingredient for making effervescent products and bath fizz. It is the most versatile raw material we sell. Our sodium bicarbonate is of the highest quality with ultra fine grain.
Bath Fizz: Use 1 part Citric Acid and 2 to 3 parts Sodium Bicarbonate.
Making baking soda mouthwash
Mouthwash is a great addition to a good oral hygiene routine. It reaches the corners of your mouth and crevices of your teeth, gums and tongue that you may miss while brushing.
Many people use baking soda as a substitute for mouthwash. Some studies have shown that it can freshen your breath and even offer antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. However, one study found that a mouthwash containing baking soda did not significantly lower oral bacteria levels, although it did result in increased salivary pH, which is important for inhibiting bacterial growth.
The recipe for baking soda mouthwash is simple. Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to half a glass of warm water, then rinse as usual.
Baking soda soothes ulcers
Aphthous ulcers are small, painful sores that can form in your mouth. Unlike cold sores, no ulcers form on the lips and they are not contagious. Although more evidence is needed, some research has shown that mouthwash with baking soda is great for relieving pain caused by aphthous ulcers.
You can make baking soda mouthwash with the recipe in the previous section. Rinse your mouth with this mixture once a day until the aphthouses heal.
Whitening your teeth
Baking soda is a popular home remedy for teeth whitening. Many studies have shown that toothpaste with baking soda is better for whitening teeth and removing plaque than toothpaste without baking soda.
This is probably because baking soda has mild abrasive properties that allow it to break the bonds of molecules that cause stains on the teeth. It also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that can help fight harmful bacteria.
Making deodorant with baking soda
Surprisingly, human sweat is odorless. Sweat only acquires its scent after it has been broken down by bacteria in your armpits. These bacteria convert your sweat into acidic waste products that give sweat its smell. Baking soda can eliminate the smell of sweat by making the odors less acidic. Try patting baking soda on your armpits and you may notice a difference.
Relieves itchy skin and sunburn
A bath with baking soda is often recommended to soothe itchy skin. These baths are a common remedy for itching from insect bites and bee stings. In addition, baking soda can help soothe itching caused by sunburn. Some people claim that it can be more effective when combined with other ingredients such as cornstarch and oatmeal.
To make a baking soda bath, add 1-2 cups of baking soda to a lukewarm bath. Make sure the affected area is thoroughly soaked.
For more specific areas, you can make a paste with baking soda and a little water. Apply a thick layer of paste to the affected area.
Air freshener with baking soda
Not all commercial air fresheners eliminate bad odors. Instead, some simply release odor molecules that mask bad odors. Furthermore, less than 10% of air fresheners tell you what they contain. This can be problematic if you are sensitive to chemicals that may be found in air fresheners.
Baking soda is an excellent and safe alternative to commercial air fresheners. It interacts with odor particles and neutralizes them, rather than masking them.
To make an air freshener with baking soda, you’ll need:
- a small jar
- 1/3 cup baking powder
- 10-15 drops of your favourite essential oils
- a piece of fabric or paper
- string or ribbon
Add the baking soda and essential oils to the jar. Cover it with the cloth or paper and secure it in place with the string. When the smell starts to fade, shake the jar.
Can make your laundry whiter
Baking soda is an inexpensive way to bleach and clean your laundry. Baking soda is an alkali – a soluble salt – that can help remove dirt and stains. When dissolved in water, an alkali such as baking soda can interact with acids from stains and help remove them.
Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to your normal amount of laundry detergent. It also helps to soften the water, so you may need less detergent than normal.
Raise PH
Baking Soda can also be used to adjust the PH of your homemade DIY recipe. To raise the PH, mix water (90%) with 10% baking soda. Add this to your DIY water-based cream drop by drop until the desired PH is reached. The ideal skin neutral PH is around 5.5.
