Ectoin is an amino acid derivative known for its protective and stabilizing effects on cells that is naturally produced by a halophilic bacterium (H. elongata). This is a unique molecule responsible for survival in extreme stress conditions (UV, heat, dryness) and it makes it such a valuable ingredient for skin care formulas because of its benefits such as UV and blue light protection, cell renewal and hydration.
